Crime and punishment

There is a punishment provided for any crime by legislating system of a country. Those punishments are different for every country. It is also common that different districts of the same country provide different punishment for the same crime. There are also countries the legislating system of which wasn't changed greatly from the ancient times. Such phenomenon is common for Muslim countries as they took Koran as their code of legislating laws.

It is interesting to think over the appropriation of crimes to punishments provided for them. It is common that punishment is too cruel or in counter to modest for some crime. For example, there are countries according to criminal legislation of which a person who committed a murder will be sentenced to 15-20 years of imprisonment. Can you believe it? The one who deprived a person of life will be free in some 15 years.

According to code of laws of some Muslim countries a woman who cheated her husband will be sentenced to death. Actually, there won't even be a court for her; it is obvious for them that she has to be killed. The only matter of argument in that case is size of stones she will be beat to death with. And there is no such person who would recognize such punishment as a cruel one.

In most cases punishments are not appropriate to committed crimes. It is common for punishments to be too moderate and it is common for punishments to be too cruel. Though, on the other hand who knows what is worth: to be dead or to spend for 15 years in the closed room with four walls and without right to do what you want to do.
